When buying accessories for your cell phone always remember to purchase an extra battery because you never know when you will need one. Cell phone batteries are one of the most necessary accessories to have. Just in case your battery is damaged or runs short of power, you’ll not be left with no power if you have invested in a spare. Cell phone batteries come in four common types: Lithium Ion, Nickel Metal Hydride, Lithium Polymer, and Nickel Cadmium.

Lithium Ion cell phone batteries are the most popular batteries on the market. They are ranked as the best value of cell phone battery types. Li-Ion batteries are reliable, more compact, last longer than other batteries, and do not suffer from memory effect. They can be purchased online or at your local cell phone store.

Lithium Polymer batteries are the newest and most advanced cell phone batteries made today. They are brand new and are extremely light, thinly made, and give the most battery life for their size. Lithium Polymer cell phone batteries are similar to the Li-Ion battery but will last twice as long.

The Nickel Metal Hydride batteries have been on the market since the 1990’s and have proven to be reliable but have a slight memory effect. They stay charged for long lengths of time and can be recharged using a car battery charger within 15 minutes. You can purchase this type of cell phone battery online which many sites carry a large line of Nickel Hydride batteries.

Nickel Cadmium Batteries are older and made using older technology so they may suffer from memory loss. Before recharging they have to be completely discharged or else it will cause them damage. This causes the charging process to take much longer than other types of cell phone batteries. It is also hard to dispose of Nickel Cadmium batteries as they are harmful to the environment.

After you have purchased an extra cell phone battery, you can dispose of any old ones you have to the original place of purchase or to a regular collection center. You can go online to locate the nearest cell phone battery recycling center. Never just throw away your used battery as most of them can be toxic to our environment.

Whatever type of cell phone battery you choose to purchase, just make sure it is the right one to fit your phone. Your best bet in getting the right battery would be to go back to the original place that you purchased your cell phone, as they will be able to get you the exact one you need. If you’re looking for discounted cell phone batteries you can find many websites on the internet that sell them.

Cell phones have become the most popular way to communicate while not at home. The most important part of a cell phone is the cell phone battery. Without a battery, there is no power, and with no power there is no service. You should have one battery in your phone and then have a back up battery just in case the one in your cell phone looses power. Always keep your spare cell phone battery charged and ready for use, as you never know when you will need it. When traveling the extra battery will come in very handy; sometimes you aren’t near a spot to charge your cell phone battery, so you can just pop in the extra one and charge the other one at a later time. You can most likely find a good cell phone battery at a reasonable price online at one of the many cell phone battery websites.

Just like you maintain your cell phone, you can do certain things to maintain the life of your cell phone battery. One big no no, is never leave your cell phone near a heat source or in a vehicle when it’s hot. This will suck the power right out of your battery.  Another thing is to never have your cell phone on vibrate; use a ring tone as it drains less power. You can also get rid of the sound your cell phone makes when keys are pressed. If your planning on not talking on the phone for a few hours, turn your phone completely off, and do the same if you’re in an area with no reception.  By doing these things your cell phone battery will keep charged longer.

How to Tell If You Need a New Cell Phone Battery

There are several different types of cell phone batteries that you can choose from. If you go online and research the different types you will be able to make a better choice for your type of phone.  The older types of cell phone batteries are now being replaced by newer more advanced batteries that hold a charge longer, made lighter and thinner, and can re-charge faster.

Nickel cadmium batteries are an oldest type of cell phone batteries made. They work well, but you have to make sure that they are fully discharged before you try to charge them up again. If you don’t let them completely discharge, it reduces the percentage of usage in the future. Your battery will end up having memory problems and won’t be able to completely charge as well.
